"AMERI-MF-CANA" the new CD from Sue Burkhart and Ed Vadas a.k.a. Ameri-mf-cana!
Veteran music writer and editor, Dave sokal says we are "an arresting blend of folk, Jazz, old timey, and purely original material performed in an eclectic, humorous, sophisticated, and slightly twisted manner all drenched in a rich slathering sauce of blues!" Now that is a mouthful, but if it isn't what we are, it is what we ascribe to be!
Sue and I have joined together to form a duo dedicated to performing only songs we truely enjoy. Ones that never quite fit into what we were performing throughout our seperate musical careers. On this cd and in this duo, our repertoire is so varied that when we try to describe the type of music we perform, our usual comeback is "a sort of Americana." While accurate, it sounded corny to us. So... we spiced it up a bit to "Ameri-MF-cana" which more typifies our humor, reparte and reenforces the fact that most of the tunes on the disc deal with the "M"ale/"F"emale condition. Sue likes to say "We put the MF back in Americana.
We hope that this cd, with its' bouquet of genres, will be received much as the multi-faceted "folk revival" of the early 60's was received.
