A-MF-C, Year Two!
16 months down, a new CD, and still raring to go!
At my age...re-inventing one’s self is a cumbersome task at best...for all I know, this Ameri-mf-cana endeavor could be my white elephant, my Titanic, or my last Hurrah. I don’t know...all I can say is that for Sue Burkhart and I, it is fun, fun, fun! That is...when it is not all consuming work.
We started thinking on the project around Thanksgiving, 2006, when my wife, Jane said that we sounded good together and should play out. We played our first real gig in mid-February 2007. We had enjoyed an on going dinner gig at Holy Smokes Rib Restaurant where I played from 6-7 and Sue joined me from 7-8 every Thursday. It turned out to be a great weekly gig where we could tune up some of the material and audience test it. Alas... Holy Smokes burnt to the ground earlier this summer. It was a sad day, as the owners and the crew were fine folks. One owner, Papa Lou used to, and still does, sit in on Washtub bass and spoons while his wife Leslie would occaisionally grace us with a song.
So now we are treading water, doing a few gigs here and there, waiting for all the pieces to fall in place to do some serious performing. In the past, both Sue and I have been involved in projects that were dramatically under-promoted. We decided to take a different approach this time. We wanted to be able to say to an agent or interested party that we are serious and have all the tools on hand that will be needed to project
Amer-mf-cana into meaningful venues, both here and abroad! So we tossed in our meagre savings to try and do this thing right!
We seem to have the intangibles that every performer hopes they have when deciding to present to the public. To varying degrees, we have...
Talent, Stage presence, Musicianship, Interesting Repertoire, and a Sense of humor
Plus the tangibles...
CD, Promo Shot, Poster
U-Tube video performance,
In depth radio interview CD,
Bios, Press, Merchandice:
Hats, Visors, Magnets, nice T-shirts, AND
a Sense of humor
And all that stuff is re-enforced with seven internet sites to spread any news we may have to publicize, sell product and hopefully attract venues, and agents:

So...trying to actually keep up with all these projects has been driving us nuts, but each day it seems we are closer to having the package completed and we will be able to direct some energy towards booking gigs and being healthy!
I hope you enjoy the CD as much as we enjoy performing the tunes...
